The Science of Physics

Physics uses models that describe phenomena
models-a pattern, plan, representation or discription designed to show the structure or workings of an object, system or concept.

The first step toward simplifying a complicated situation is to decide what to study that is yo define the system.
                   sytem-
a set of particles or interacting components considered to be a distinct physical entity for   the puropse of the study.

Models help build hypothises
                   hypothesis-
an explanation that is based on prior scientific research or observations that can be tested
Models help guide experimental design
Any hypothesis must be tested in a controlled experiment.
                    controlled experiment-
an experiment that tests only one factor at a time using a comparison of a controlled group with an experimental group

                   Accuracy
-a description of how close a measurment is to the correct of accepted value of the quantity measured
Precision- the degree of exactness of a measurement
